I can start TOSMANA, but when I try to load a file it crashes
TOSMANA relies on the .NET Framework which allows system administrators the set various restrictions to programmes using the Framework. E.g., it is possible to restrict software from accessing files on a local network. If you can not load a file inside TOSMANA, you should install TOSMANA on a local drive (mostly known as C:) and place your data files on the same drive (you do not need to place them in the same directory).
 

Is there a data set I can use to get a quick view on the software?
Yes. Please download this ZIP file: tosmana_example.zip. This file contains a sample data set and a presentation of TOSMANA also explaining the data in this data set.
 

Can you send me a notice when a new version of TOSMANA is available?
Of course. Just join the Tosmana News List. Please find more information on how to do so on this page.
 

Is there a Linux / Mac / OS2 /etc. version of TOSMANA?
Currently, TOSMANA only works with Windows with the .NET Framework installed. BUT: The Mono Project is currently building a multi-platform implementation of the used Framework which means that software using the Framework will work on other platforms as well. Hopefully, a multi-platform version of Tosmana will be available soon.

Why does TOSMANA not start?

[This information is valid for Tosmana Versions up to 1.26]

TOSMANA comes in only two files which ca be copied into any directory, sometimes starting TOSMANA for the first time causes problems. Please check the following list if any of these possible sources for error do apply:
  1. Is the .NET Framework installed? If not, please refer to the main site of the TOSMANA webpage for instructions.
  2. Are both files extracted from the ZIP file, or are you trying to start TOSMANA from the inside of a ZIP File? If so, please extract both files from the ZIP file and launch the unzipped TOSMANA.exe application.
  3. Are both files extracted from the ZIP file, or is only TOSMANA.exe extracted? Please ensure that both Tosmana.exe and TosmanaLibrary.dll are extracted.
